Things are gearing up here at The Makery. We have some exceptional artists signed up for our launch in the coming months, and our new website is under development!
Local is at the heart of The Makery, and we’ve enjoyed rediscovering the cool stuff happening here in Durham through The Makery lens. But we also want eyes and ears in the other cities of NC so that we can represent and celebrate the regional flavors of the coast, piedmont and the mountains. We’re looking for college students who are tapped into their local arts communities and want to share the great stuff they discover with us.
If you know anyone in Asheville, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Greensboro/Winston-Salem, or Wilmington who fits the bill, please pass our information along.
Regional Artist Lead Development Intern
The Makery is a Durham startup created by three sisters and North Carolina natives as an easy way for people to buy handmade, local goods. Members will receive weekly, curated deals on such things as art, apparel, and homewares, all lovingly handmade by their NC neighbors. The Makery believes in supporting North Carolina craftspeople, and in empowering our local community by reviving and transforming the tradition of community supported commerce.
We are looking for a savvy intern to have her/his eye out and ear to the ground to find unique and talented craftspeople in her/his community. The intern would be responsible for finding artists and craftspeople to be featured and sell on our site and keeping us informed of local art and community events. Interns could work on their own time, and would be responsible for providing The Makery with six artist leads and additional event details per month. The intern should be a person who loves browsing through etsy listings, craft and flea markets, and being a tastemaker of design and style.
There is great growth potential for this internship. Successful and enthusiastic interns could take on additional responsibilities such as blog posting, networking, and marketing.
Internship is open for college Juniors and Seniors only for the 2012/2013 academic year.
Applicants should respond to email@example.com with an introduction, resume, and links to five etsy items made in North Carolina that are examples of unique and beautiful design.
Looking forward to reading some applications.
